Après avoir enquêté avec le Lieutenant Caitlin Pike ainsi que Meg Austin, le Juge Avocat Général lui assigne une autre femme au caractère bien trempé. Le Major Sarah Mackenzie est un Marin et une avocate redoutable.
L'ancien pilote devenu brillant avocat par la force des choses, va vivre des aventures robanbolesques avec elle, que se soit en Russie, en Afghanistan, au Paraguay ou dans les rues de Washington, leur amitié va les conduire à se sortir de tout un tas d'épreuves.
